SURFING

Facing the Atlantic, we get some excellent waves with a great variety of beaches on either side of the peninsula to suit the swell. Many champion surfers were born and raised on these waves. It's a beautiful place to learn to surf or improve existing skills.

More experienced surfers will love exploring the breathtaking wild coastline nearby, while learners are well catered for with excellent surfing tuition and safe, accessible beaches at  Sandymouth, Westward Ho!, Bude and Widemouth

Here are some good local surf schools for all ages and abilities:

Sandymouth Surf School, Just beyond Kilkhampton (20 mins drive)

North Devon Surf School, Westward Ho! (25 mins drive)

Reubyn Ash Surf School, Widemouth (35 mins drive)

If you just want to hire some kit, then Ian at The Cabin, Bude, is the man to sort you out.  Body boarding is also popular and we have a few old spare boards you can borrow at your own risk in the houses.
