Hartland Abbey
"Hartland Abbey with its beautiful gardens and grounds welcomes visitors from the end of March until October. It is the home of the Stucley family with treasures and memorabilia collected over many generations. The 18thC Walled and Woodland gardens, the walks and the parkland provide visitors with extensive grounds through which to wander and enjoy the stunning valley leading down to the rugged Atlantic cove and cottage at Blackpool Mill." Clovelly
"Discover the timeless village of Clovelly, where the steep, cobbled street tumbles down past gleaming white cottages to the tiny, deep-blue harbour… it has no vehicular traffic on its steeply cobbled street, just donkeys." From Clovelly you can also arrange a charterd boat to go fishing or to take you to Lundy - and Clovelly Court Gardens at the top are worth a look too. (10 min drive)
Docton Mill Gardens
The gardens are in a stunning wooded valley 10 minutes walk down the hill from us. The Garden started in the 1930’s, surrounding the original working mill and mill pond with nine acres of beautiful plants and flowers. (2 min drive)
Hawker's Hut
Built by the eccentric clergyman and poet Reverend Hawker out of drift wood and timber from shipwrecks and cut into the cliff with a turf roof. It’s difficult to find but that’s half the fun. Hawker spent many hours in his hut smoking opium, writing poems and gazing out to sea. (15 min drive)
The Eden Project
The world's largest geodesic domes containing two distinct biospheres, a jungle environment and the Warm Temperate Biome, with plants from the Mediterranean, South Africa and California. It's especially nice on a sunny day in winter. (90 min drive)
